Do You Need a Bridal Purse? Title: Do You Need a Bridal Purse?

There's so much to get for a wedding. Besides the big, obvious items like a dress and cake, what about little things like a bridal purse? Although this is a small accessory, you should put some care into what purse you choose, should you decide to carry one.

First and foremost, your purse should match your wedding dress. I don't mean it needs to be exactly matchy-matchy, but if your dress is formal and decorative, your bag should match in tone. Similarly, if your dress and wedding are very casual, then a more subdued purse will work.

Naturally, you should first decide how formal your wedding will be. After that, everything else can fall into place. You choose a gown, then find a purse that goes well with it. Besides holding things like lipstick, powder (you don't want to be shiny at your reception!) and tissue, you need something to hold all of those money-filled envelopes you may get.

Looking for a bridal purse? Bridal People has a great collection sure to meet the needs of just about any bride.

Model Jerry Hall's wedding dress that she wore in marrying Mick Jagger 18 years ago has been sold to a top bid of £2,420 - almost 5 times of its estimated price.

The model sold scores of items from her vast wardrobe to raise money for a homeless charity and has said of the tight white lace creation: "I hope someone else has more luck than I did."

The dress, with its scalloped sweetheart neckline, was the star lot.

The dress, worn at her wedding to Jagger in 1990, was estimated at £300 to £500 but sold for £2,420.

The lot was bought by Steven Philip of trendy vintage store Rellik and the total auction of Hall's wardrobe raised £28,000.

Did you see it? Who saw the Sex and the City movie on opening weekend? I have to admit that I didn't because I was out of town for a wedding (of course!) and had no time to do anything but spend it with family, which was nice. The wedding I attended was fabulous; very elegant and with a nice sized guest list, but not so much as to be overwhelming.

But I'm here to talk about the Sex and the City wedding. Or rather, the wedding dress.

This is the dress that Sarah Jessica Parker/Carrie Bradshaw was photographed wearing during filming last fall. I'd like to hear what you think about it, especially if you saw it on film. What I like best about this is the blue feather embellishment on the veil. Something about that is just so unconventional and I love it. So, your thoughts on the dress? Yay or nay? Would you wear it?

Another celebrity wedding to report: this time it's Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller tying the knot. As seems to be the trend among celebs nowadays, Sheen and Mueller had a small, intimate wedding in Beverly Hills (who wants paparazzi flying overhead anyway?) with about 60 guests, including Sheen's father and brother, Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez.

Sheen's two daughters from his previous marriage to actress Denise Richards were the flower girls and apparently, although the divorce between the two was rather bitter, Richards offered her best wishes and hopes for happiness to the couple.

Instead of gifts, the newlyweds asked guests to donate to two charities close to their hearts: the Chrysalis: Changing Lives Through Jobs and to Pugs 'N Pals, a dog rescue group. Now that's the kind of news I like to hear. Best wishes to the newly married couple!

The Art of the Thank You Note Title: The Art of the Thank You Note

Filed in archive Q&A Archives by Del Sandeen on June 02, 2008

Q: How long do I have after my wedding to send out thank you notes? I've heard that I have a year. Is that right?

A: Oh my. The "year" rule, again. You would think, in this age of instant everything, that people would be more timely than a year in writing "thank you's." But this is one of those customs that's slowly going the way of the dinosaur. Or the cassette tape.

Technically speaking, you should write your thank you notes as soon as possible after receiving your gifts. I'm not quite sure where the one year time frame came into play. Yes, if you are so incredibly busy-starring in an Oscar-winning movie perhaps? saving the world, maybe?-you may need a whole year to send out thank you's, but if at all possible, please don't take that long to thank your guests for their generosity.

I know that sometimes, people often feel they're not up to writing a perfect thank you note. The vast majority of the people who took the time to not only buy a gift for you, but also celebrated with you when you got married, aren't looking for a perfect thank you. They want simple acknowledgment that their gift was received and appreciated (and if you didn't appreciate it, don't let on).

If you received a mountain of gifts, then yes, you have to thank each gift giver, so massage your hands a little and get ready for some serious writing. You don't have to do it all in a day, but you do have to handwrite your thank you notes. I say take a weekend, make a list of everyone you need to thank, and work your way through it, with a friendly cup of coffee or tea nearby. Take two weekends if needed, but do it. Need more advice?
