News Of Note

One pet peeve of many wedding guests is those weddings were brides save money by making guests help out in the kitchen, cleaning up, etc. Most of the time, anytime you ask your guests to work, it is very poor etiquette so when I was scanning news headlines today and saw "Bride, groom makes guests work at reception" I was immediatly unimpressed - until I read the article!
Cristine Bouwkamp and Kyle Kramer were married in Muskegon, Michigan this past weekend. The couple said that together, their goal in life is to serve others, and their thought their wedding would be a perfect way to start. So, instead of spending money on renting china, buying decorations, etc - they donated their money to their church who in turned purchased enough food to feed more then 100 households.
So, on Saturday after a traditional ceremony and photo session, the couple put on "bride" and "groom" aprons and joined their wedding guests in handing out the food to needy neighborhood families! It may not have been the reception the guests expected, but no one seemed to mind.
