Sometimes sweet, sometimes not

Filed in archive News Of Note by Crystal Unrau on November 28, 2007

Okay - this got me all teary-eyed when I finally got to watch it today on Manolo . How sweet is he? And how awesome are the rest of them for participating? But - Manolo made a good point - those types of public proposals seem sweet and romantic when they work out - but they don't always work out! If you aren't 100% SURE that the answer will be yes and that the other person will be okay with the VERY public spotlight- DON'T DO IT!!

Public proposals have gotten messy recently - with a news story out this week of a man who proposed to his ex on a Spanish talk show - hoping the big surprise would win her heart. It didn't - she said no. Later, the man reportedly murdered his ex in anger!!

Big and flashy - does not mean she'll say yes. A proposal needs to be personal and romantic from the point of view of the person being proposed to. A huge public statement does not always fit that bill.
