Here is some advice from someone who learned this lesson the hard way: no matter how you pass along your STD info - phone, email, in person or by mail - make sure the details are CLEAR.

Dave Barclay, a British teacher who has been teaching in toronto, Canada for the last three years, received an email from a friend earlier this year. His friend told him he was engaged, and to save July 6th so he could attend.

Dave never received a formal invitation, but he had been called and told to be there so, last week, Dave took a $1000+ flight from Toronto to Wales and upon arriving, called the groom seeking details on the venue and times for the Friday wedding. He was a little early - the wedding is planned for July 6, 2008!

Well, at least he got a trip home out of the deal, and he is taking it pretty well at hand. "At least it's assured me a mention in the speech next year," was his comment.
