My Eva & Tony Recap

Well, I finally went out and bought a copy of the Eva & Tony OK! issue. I had originally planned to get it the day it came out, but bloggers in other areas who saw it sooner left the impression that it wasn't as exciting or spectacular as they had expected. Well, today I was in the check out line and saw an issue sitting there. I flipped through it and immediately realized that I had, perhaps, judged to soon.

What exactly did we expect? For the wedding of the year - were we expecting something flashier, something a little more dripping with gold? Personally, I am impressed. Not by the grandeau and general "overdoneness" of it - but rather, by the way that Eva's stunning simply elegance is carried through-out the event.

The dress - No, it's not ornate, it's not covered in unbelievable works of beaded art. It's simple, modern, clean lined and ELEGANT! The only thing overdone about the dress is the 10-foot train, but it works. I think Eva looks amazing. Do I think the dress is worth $75,000? As someone who makes replicas for a living - I know at a glance that I can make a similar style for pennies on the dollar. But that's not the point. This is a designer, one-of-a-kind, made just for the bride by a top designer - gown. That is why it is worth it. Not because it is covered in diamonds but because it is unique and perfectly, utterly HER. Personally - I love the gown and I think it is a lot more elegant then some other recent wedding gowns celebrities have chosen to wear.]

The Bridesmaids - one of the things I liked most from the photos was the wedding party. Eva, like many brides today, choose to allow her bridesmaids to show their own style. Each bride wore a stunning red gown with silver detailing - but each style was a little different. The end result is a coordinated yet unique wedding party that looked almost as stunning as the bride herself. Matching bridesmaids are DEFINITELY a thing of the past:)

The Location - Seriously? You could get married in a back alley in Paris, France and it would still be romantic, lol. But a historical church and a French Castle? WOW!

The Cake - this is just about the only thing I wasn't overly impressed with. I found the huge, red icing and red roses design to be a bit much. I would have liked it better in a white with red roses, perhaps with some delicate detailing on the layers - but then again, I loved the cake topper! Eva lighted it up a bit with a fun topped depicting a overly tall Tony in his basketball uniform, dribbling around a little Eva. LOVE IT:)

My advice - pick up a copy and make your own decision. Like with most weddings - this is probably a love it/hate it wedding. If you love simple, modern elegance - she pulls it off. If you love elaborate detailing and over the top design - this is probably not your dream wedding.
