Get Married and Be Kind to the Planet

If you're passionate about saving the environment, but don't know how to incorporate your eco-friendly lifestyle into your wedding, don't fret. More and more sustainable options and ideas are coming about every day to meet increasing demand from people who care about the planet.

Here are some ways you can celebrate your big day without putting stress on the earth:

* Don't just toss those bouquets, donate them: The bridal bouquet isn't the only one tossed after a wedding. Sadly, all those pretty flowers often go to waste and end up as waste. Instead of trashing these buds, give them to your guests or give them to local assisted living homes. Better yet, instead of having flowers that will eventually wilt and die, have potted plants as centerpieces at each reception table and give those away.

* Donate your wedding dress: If you love recycling, then this a great idea. Not only does it solve the "What do I do with my wedding gown" problem, but it helps someone else, too! You can donate your dress to a breast cancer charity, a street kids charity or even to less fortunate brides-to-be who don't have thousands of dollars to spend.

* Send eco-friendly invitations: Earthly Affair is just one stationary company that practices environmentally-aware habits. Their invites are printed on 100% recycled paper and are graceful and gorgeous.

* Or, don't send paper invitations at all: If you want to go one step further, you can set up your own wedding website, through a site like eWedding. Guests can RSVP there as well as see your registry and a whole host of other options. This eliminates all those pieces of paper that invitees have to keep track of. You can send a one-page announcement and point them to your site instead.

Going green for your wedding is even easier than you might think - if you have any other green wedding day ideas, please let me know!
