Candy Plates

In many cultures, a tradition has been passed down were after a reception dinner is finished - the guests break the plates. Now, this is meant to remind/warn the new couple that, like the plates, once a marriage is broken it can not be made new again and is also considered to bring good luck to the new couple. sweet
as that sounds - it is a VERY costly tradition and as you may recall from "Maid In Manhattan" - this tradition is a wedding planner's nightmare. A company called Sweet Madness Candies now offers a great alternative - Candy Breaking Plates! The plates come individually wrapped in cellophone bags and are available in a number of different colors and flavors. They make great wedding favors - and are a much more affordable way to enjoy an age old tradition (just break them on the table, not on the floor - you want to be able to enjoy them after, lol)
