Budget Wedding Reception Alternatives
Filed in archive Wedding Budget on November 1, 2009
For some folks, a wedding reception is not complete without at least a five-course meal, or an overflowing buffet. Some, however, prefer to keep the meal low-key, enabling the couple to freely mingle with their guests, glasses of champagne on hand and stopping for some hors d'oeuvres or appetizers in between having photos taken and receiving congratulatory hugs from guests.
If you have a rather low budget and a long guest list, you can consider hosting such a cocktail reception instead. Free-flowing sparkling wine, and some elegantly served fingerfoods should do it.
Or, timing the reception to be held at around mid-afternoon? Perfect for a coffee-and-cake celebration. And it gives everybody the chance to really enjoy your wedding cake!
Really, all that is important is you spend some time with your guests, share your new-found happiness as newlyweds, and thank them for gracing the ceremony. It does not need to be a long drawn out affair.
Of course, in addition to the above, you can still host a small, private meal for family and a select friends afterwards.
