7/7/07 is proving to be the day to wed this year. Thousands of couples are choosing this "lucky" day for their ceremony - including Desperate housewife, Eva Longeria and her superstitious beau, Tony Parker. The number 7 is said to be a lucky number and has religious significance in many religions. In the Bible, seven is seen as a perfect number, Japanese mythology includes 7 lucky Gods, and Buddha is said to have taken 7 steps at his birth.
If you haven't book your wedding venues and vendors yet, you may be out of luck. Vendors across North America are reporting that they have been booked solid for months already! Even last minute venues like Las Vegas Chapels have reported an astounding spike in early reservations for that date! TheKnot.com reported that 31,000+ couples have signed up stating that day as their wedding date: 3 times higher then other weekends that month. WedAlert.com also reported nearly 3 times as many wedding registered for that date.
Of course - according to a recent article, it may not be as lucky of a day as brides think!! Suspicious minds out there may be interested to know that numerologists believe the combination of three 7s is actually unlucky and will "lead to miscommunication. Interactions between the partners is likely to be strained."
What do I think? I think marriage is about love and commitment - not luck - but it would be cool to say you got married on 07/07/07! Of course, there are only a few more years to pull off a date like that (08/08/08, 09/09/09, 10/10/10, 11/11/11 and 12/12/12) After that - it will be nearly 100 years before a date like that is available again.
