10 Wicks Wax Crystals

I had the opportunity this week to attend the Winnipeg Home & Garden Show, and while you don't generally expect to find wedding things at a home show - there was one booth that caught my attention. The company is called 10 Wicks and they produce a product called Wax Crystals. In essence, they are a DIY candle. The crystals are first poured into a container of your choice and then wicks are inserted were you want them - Viola - a candle!!

You can turn anything you wish into a candle! Imagine the unique centerpiece opportunities and decor options that would open up! They had one on display in a tall glass vase. The vase was filled with water with a silk orchid submersed inside. The wax crystals were then poured on top and and a wick inserted into the center of the wax. The end result was a floating layer of white wax - it was elegant, unique and breathtaking! Yes - the crystal's float:)

Some other things to note:

- The wax is white - but it can be colored using food coloring or powder dyes!
- The crystals are designed with a flat glass surface so that they reflect light and the result is a glistening glow reminiscent of fresh fallen snow in the sunlight.
- Because these are manufactured to have a higher melting point - they last much longer then regular candles.
- NO MESS!!! The wax around the wick forms a small bubble of wax as the wick burns. When the wick goes out, simply remove the bubble from the other crystals and you can use the remaining crystals again!! This also means you can use containers and things without worrying about them getting damaged by wax!
